Problems in the AulaVirtual

The provider (Fenixer in Madrid) of our communication platform www.safareyes.es/aulavirtual stopped the service due to economic reasons (and internal problems). Therefore the platform is not available for the moment.
Our friends in Sevilla are fixing the problem and working at a solution. Please wait for some days – I’ll inform you about the progress of the work at the platform.

Visit to Latina

Harald Makl and Peter Mazohl visited the ITS "Vittorio Veneto" in Latina. They had a guided tour through school. The students of the 1st form performed some Christmas songs (assisted by their teachers). It was gorgeous to listen – and it’s reality: Italy is the country of "belcanto".
After the performance all the involved teachers celebrated the upcoming Christmas feast with original Pannetone & Spumante.

Thank you Francesca for your excellent work ant your warm welcome!

Here are some pictures (you will find more in the picture album of our partnership)

The Christmas post cards!

Made in Portugal - Lisbon

The myths of St. Vasilios and Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas)

One of our pupils, Dimitris Filioglou, prepared the following presentation about the two saints that are celebrated this season

The myths of St. Vasilios and Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas)

Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas)
On our planet two orthodox saints are associated to the custom of “delivering” or handing out presents to children during Christmas time. These two different saints were both Greek and bishops in their region. For western countries the one who brings presents to the poor people and the children is Saint Nikolaos ( Santa Claus), who is celebrated all around the world on 6 December. People consider him the protector of seamen. The story of St. Nikolaos as the protector of poor people and children, has been enriched throughout the centuries with elements such as the elves, the northern star, sleighs etc. taken from the ancient myths of the northern people like the Dutch and the Finnish. Nowadays we have the image of a plump person with round glasses, a white beard and red clothes who lives in the North Pole and is surrounded by snow fairies and elves.
The Orthodox bearer of presents : St. Vasilios the Great
He was a tall, thin person with a dark complexion. His hair and beard was black and he had a thoughtful look. Most of his family were also saints. St. Vasilios became the Great because he gave away his fortune to the poor. During the great epidemics of his time, he helped people with his actions and his beliefs, preaching the words of Jesus. In his hometown (Caesarea), he built hospitals, hostels, charity establishments and asylums for orphans and old people. He also organised the distribution of goods and clothes and engaged in numerous other charitable activities.

"Será sempre assim
o que sinto em mim
O melhor quero oferecer
A ti neste Natal
Eu só serei feliz
se encontrar alguém
que me conte
a origem do Natal
Se tu puderes ouvir
os sinos a tocar
É um sinal de todo o amor
Que eu tenho p'ra te dar"

Check list (preparation of the application form)

Here some notes about things to be done ...
  • Did you check the contact sheet, correct (if necessary) and send it back?
  • Did you send the text about context a motivation? Please keep in mind that there's a limitation to 2500 letters!
  • Did you think about your mobility activities and return the table to Peter?
  • Did you read the draft application form - and do you agree (or do you have proposals for changes?)

Have a nice Sunday - next week w start to finish the application form.

Partnership type <=> Number of mobility activities

Please decide which type of partnership (depending of mobility activities) you want to select. There are the following possibilities for mobility activities in the frame of the Partnership :

  • COM-4M (Multilateral / Small nr of mobilities - min. 4)
  • COM-8M (Multilateral / Limited nr of mobilities - min. 8)
  • COM-12M (Multilateral / Average nr of mobilities - min. 12)
  • COM-24M (Multilateral / High nr of mobilities - min. 24)

For each of the participating organisations, please select the "Partnership type" that best corresponds to your Partnership work plan for the whole 2 year duration. Please note that each type is linked to a minimum number of mobilities to be carried out during the grant agreement period – these minimum numbers have to be respected when entering the numbers of planned pupil and staff mobility into the table. The grant amounts for each Partnership type are defined at national level and they can vary from one country to another.

Please make sure that, for each of the participating institutions, you have selected the grant amounts applicable in the country and for the programme in question.

CONTEXT AND MOTIVATION

For the application we have to use the online form (that's not yet online but will be end of January). I will compile this form with all necessary data. This will be:
  1. General description
  2. School information
This joint document will be sent (electronically) to you at begin of February and you have to send a printed copy of this document (adding the necessary additional national documents) to your NA.

Picture: Current view of the online form (Austrian NA)

Therefore I need the data sheet (with school data, names of contact person and headmaster/headmistress including all addresses and phone numbers – a mobile number is necessary) and the context and motivation of school (I sent you some weeks ago). As I didn’t receive the text from all schools please send me as soon as possible.

Here is the question for the “Context & Motivation” with 2 points a) and b) again. Please keep each text at a maximum length of 2.500 letters (as the online form will not accept more content).

5.2 CONTEXT AND MOTIVATION

a) What is the general context of each institution involved in the proposed
Partnership? Is there a specific context as for example: Are the participants in disadvantaged areas? Do they have specific needs for pupils, staff or other groups, e.g. pupils at risk of social exclusion, pupils with special needs, migrants, and refugees? If so, please explain.

b) Why do the participating institutions want to take part in European cooperation activities such as this Partnership? What do they expect to gain from European cooperation?
