ALL SAINTS DAY IN SPAIN (2)

Dear friends:
Every 1 and 2 November, Spanish families get together to celebrate All Saints Day by eating traditional food ["huesos de santo" (saint's bones), "boladillos de viento", "castañas"(chesnuts)]
and visiting cemeteries where they take flowers and clean tombs.

ALL SAINTS DAY IN SPAIN

Dear friends:
Last year, Spanish student Beatriz López (15) prepared this video to show the European students our Spanish traditions and behaviours on this Spanish national festivity called "All Saints Day". This work was one of thos optional works presented during auditions to participate in CHIEF meeting in Glasgow. The sound is not good and maybe you will find some mistakes, but I think the video deserves to be watched and I am sure you will enjoy it.
Thanks, Bea!

Austrian students in Cassino

Ten Austrian students had a fine time together with the students from the partnerschool Liceo Carducci in Cassino. There was a guided tour through school as well as the visit of the monastery of Montecassino as a cultural activity.

The students had a lot of fun together and used the time to learn about each other. The next option to meet will be Malta - they all are looking forward to it!

Liceo "Vittorio Veneto" meets Bundesgymnasium Babenbergerring

Ten students of the BG Babenbergerring visited the school in Latina to exchange experiences and to prepare the meeting in Malta in spring 2010. One of the emphases of the meeting was to get into contact and to prepare the future cooperation. There was an intensive intercultural exchange - for an example the Austrian students learned to play an italian game with cards. A visit at he school and a general meeting in the assembly hall of the school brought the students to a good working base.
Besides that the teachers had a meeting to plan future steps and coordinate the joint work for the second year of the partnership.

SPANISH PRESENTATION IN KOLBIEL MEETING (POLAND)

Spanish team wants to share our presentation in Kolbiel with everybody since we suffered a "technical" problem which ruined the piano performance. Our team was formed by Carlota Armillas, Ignacio (Nacho) Castro, Julia Diaz, William Gawn, Ignacio Martinez de Murga, Almudena Sanchez, Almu Maldonado and Rocio Lopez. And the teachers Miguel Armillas and Juana Muñoz. This is our homage to Chopin to commemorate the bicentenary of his birth. We join Poland in this national celebration.
@Nacho Castro:Hi everyone, my name is Nacho and I am part of the group of students who come from Spain. I can speak for my group when I say that we are delighted to be here in Kolbiel. Now, I am going to introduce the group members. [...] Also I would like to explain that we are not going to do any related to harvest celebration because the town we come from, called El Puerto de Santa Maria (in Cadiz), hasn't got any harvest celebration. Instead, we have prepared a piece of music which will be performed by Carlota.
@Ignacio Mtez. de Murga:
Hi, I'm Ignacio and I'm going to tell you that in Spain all celebrations have one thing in common: music. You can find different types of music according to each celebration or there is one special song for some special celebrations.
@Almudena Sánchez:
Now, I'm going to talk about some other celebrations in Spain in which all the family get together. For example, during Christmas holidays families have dinner together at Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We celebrate Jesus' birth. In this celebrations we sing traditional Spanish christmas songs and carols and we eat a lot of typical sweets as "polvorones".
@Almu Maldonado:
Hi my name is Almu and I'm going to tell you about the Three Wise Men's day. It is celebrated on 5th January. In Spain most people get their Christmas presents on the Three Wise Men's day instead of having them brought by Santa Claus. Family get together in the eve before to have a special sweet "Roscon de Reyes" and in the morning for breakfast.
@Rocio Lopez:
We also celebrate Birthdays: Adults celebrate their birthdays with the family, but the majority of teenagers celebrate their birthdays with friends, and they can have a surprise party.
@William Gawn:
This year, 2010, is the bicentenary of the world famous Polish musician Chopin so we, the Spanish students, have prepared something special to commemorate him. Chopin has dramatically influenced music right up to the current day. Because of this, we all want to pay homage to this musical character that has been so important for the polish culture and for the world in general.
@Julia Díaz:
Now, I'm going to introduce the most beautiful, funny, graceful, stylish, cool, modest, creative, blah, blah, blah...: My friend Carlota. And she is a pianist, too. She has played the piano for five years. And now, she is in her first year of the proffessional musical school.Carlota is going to play a work by one of the most famous musicians in the world, Chopin.
@Carlota Armillas:
As you can see, Julia is a best friend. Well, I'm Carlota. I'm going to play a waltz by Chopin called "Le Vals de l'adieu". I have chosen this waltz because it is one of my favourite Chopin's compositions, and Chopin is one of my favourite composers. Thank you very much for listening.
We hope you enjoyed our little presentation. Dziękuje! :-)

The Greek group in Poland

Egaleo goes to Kolbiel
Today Friday, the Greek Comenius group had a meeting to receive the feed-back from our visit to Poland. It wasn't only the people who travelled but all the students that have been implicated in this partnership. We watched all the videos from the main school event and some photos.

The feedback from the visit was tremendous!! All the students declared that it was one of the best trips they had made. Even the people that left behind got into this situation.

We also discussed our future assignments and we shared the responsibilities.

Soon you'll have more news from us.

On behalf of the group

Michail

Visit at Kolbiel/Poland (Meeting)

The Austrian Comenius – Team of the Bundesgymnasium Babenbergerring got the opportunity to visit the partner – school in Kolbiel, Poland, for four days. Included were sightseeing tours in Warschau and Krakau.
Comenius – Representatives of Italy, Greece, Lithuania, Portugal, Scotland and Portugal were also present. Therefore, this stay turned out to be interesting, entertaining and educational.

Students from the school in Kolbiel gave an impressive performance that showed their harvest – festival traditions.
After that, the Comenius – Teams had to present themselves via a short presentation given by all members of the Teams.
Of course, that made communication and acquaintance easier.
After the performances and the presentations, a tasty meal composed of excellent polish snacks, warm and cold food, coffee and cakes, awaited us. During lunch, we could talk to our polish hosts and get to know the students.

The trip to Krakau was an interesting experience, because we had the opportunity to dive into its long, cultural and political history.
Warschau itself turned out to be quite different in its size, buildings and history. However, both places are worth being visited again!

Our meeting in Kolbiel showed how important the pursuit of cultural, linguistic and even culinary exchange is. Furthermore, personal interaction and communication can be improved and enhanced and maybe helps to establish a closer European network of teachers, students and schools.
